Discovery Workshop: a vendor-agnostic PRD, not a sales call

Hero background

Turn a rough idea into a bid-ready project plan in 2–5 business days

A 3-hour workshop for founders and CTOs: Core $600 ships a PRD and up to 5 user journeys in 2 business days. Any vendor can quote from it.

Ambiguity Destroys Momentum

Unscoped software work produces padded estimates, mid-sprint stalls, and features that miss the business goal. A Discovery Workshop replaces a guess with a written MVP scope, risks, and journeys a vendor can bid against. If the unknown is technical feasibility rather than scope, start with a PoC vs MVP decision.

  • Estimates are guesses, padded to cover unknowns
  • Development stalls as questions emerge mid-sprint
  • Features don't align with core business goals

Pricing & Engagement

Two fixed packages. Core ($600, 2 business days): 3-hour workshop, PRD, up to 5 user journeys. Core + Architecture ($1,200, 5 business days): the same plus stack, data model, and a scalability note. Use the Architecture package when you need to choose a SaaS technology stack before vendors quote. For the later build, see the MVP development cost breakdown.

Our Proven 4-Step Process

Four steps: fit call, pre-work questionnaire, 3-hour workshop, written blueprint. No build commitment.

The 3-hour session locks goals, users, MVP scope, and open risks into a plan a developer can estimate from. You receive a vendor-agnostic PRD and up to 5 user journeys. The documents are yours — take them to any vendor, including us. There is no obligation to build with SoftKraft.

Step 1.

Free Initial Consultation

A short call to see if the workshop is the right next step for your project.

A genuine fit, not a sales pitch

We check whether we have the expertise for your domain before anyone pays for the workshop.

Clarity on your next steps

You leave knowing whether we recommend the workshop, a narrower technical spike, or a different engagement.

How We Work 01 R
  • Your RolePresent your initial project vision and business objectives
  • Our RoleListen carefully, ask key questions, and assess project fit
  • OutcomeA clear decision on the best next step for your project

Step 2.

Pre-Workshop Preparation

Before the 3-hour session, we send a tailored questionnaire so you gather stakeholders, data, and constraints. Workshop time goes to decisions, not basic intake.

Maximize Workshop Value

The questionnaire puts goals, users, MVP scope, and known risks on the table before the live session.

Clarify Your Vision

Your team aligns internally first, so the workshop starts from a shared set of facts instead of competing versions of the idea.

Team Assembly
  • Your RoleGather stakeholders and consolidate your initial ideas and data
  • Our RoleProvide a tailored questionnaire to focus your thinking
  • OutcomeA shared foundation of knowledge, ensuring a productive workshop

Key Focus Areas for the Pre-Workshop Preparation

Business & User Goals

Define what success looks like for the business and for end users, so the PRD is tied to a decision, not a feature wishlist.

Target Audience (Personas)

Name who you are building for. Personas keep every journey and MVP cut tied to a real user, not an abstract “everyone.”

Core Features & MVP Scope

List the smallest set of functionality needed to launch. That cut becomes the in-scope / out-of-scope line in the PRD.

Known Constraints & Risks

Budget, stack, compliance, and timeline constraints go in before the workshop, so the plan is bid-ready instead of optimistic.

Step 3.

The 3-Hour Discovery Workshop

In a structured 3-hour session we cover goals, target users, MVP features, constraints, and success metrics. The output is a scoped plan, not a slide deck of ideas.

Structured Expert Facilitation

We run the agenda through personas, core journeys, non-functional requirements, and open risks so the session produces decisions, not notes.

Uncover Hidden Risks

Edge cases, integrations, and constraints that usually appear mid-sprint are named in the room and written into the blueprint.

How We Work 02 R
  • Your RoleActively participate, share domain expertise, and challenge assumptions
  • Our RoleFacilitate a structured discussion to uncover requirements and risks
  • OutcomeA deep understanding of the project's goals, user needs, and MVP scope
Step 4.

Blueprint Creation

After the session we write the blueprint: a Product Requirements Document (PRD) plus user journeys. The PRD is the source of truth for goals, MVP scope, journeys, and open risks.

The Single Source of Truth

The PRD records goals, in-scope and out-of-scope work, and technical constraints so any vendor can quote against the same document.

Mapping Every Interaction

User journeys cover the happy path and edge cases for up to five flows, so estimates include the work that usually appears mid-sprint.

Software Project Launch
  • Your RoleProvide any final clarifications as we synthesize the workshop's findings
  • Our RoleTranslate our collaborative discussion into formal, detailed project documents
  • OutcomeA comprehensive PRD and UJs, forming your project's official single source of truth

Discovery and MVP Planning Insights

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is a Discovery Workshop?

A SoftKraft Discovery Workshop is a paid 3-hour working session for founders and CTOs. Core ($600) delivers a vendor-agnostic PRD and up to 5 user journeys in 2 business days. The Architecture package ($1,200) adds stack, data model, and a scalability note in 5 business days.

What is in the PRD?

The PRD records goals, MVP scope, in-scope and out-of-scope work, constraints, open risks, and up to 5 user journeys. The Architecture package also includes tech-stack recommendations, a database schema, and a scalability plan.

How fast do we receive the documents?

Core is delivered in 2 business days after the workshop. Core + Architecture is delivered in 5 business days. The “48 hours” line applied only to Core, not to the Architecture package.

Why is this a paid service and not just a sales call?

A free sales call is about winning the build. This workshop produces a vendor-agnostic blueprint you can use with any team. The documents have standalone value above the $600 Core fee, whether you hire us or not.

Who from my team should attend the workshop?

Bring decision-makers: typically the product owner, a founder or CEO, and whoever holds the domain knowledge. People who cannot decide scope should not fill the room.

What happens after the workshop? Are we obligated to work with SoftKraft for development?

No. The deliverables are yours. Use them to choose a software development company or to ask us for a build estimate from the same blueprint. There is no obligation to continue with SoftKraft.

What if our project is much larger than a standard MVP?

For a programme larger than one MVP, we scope a custom workshop across more than one session. The first output is still a written plan you can bid out. Contact us with the current scope and we will say whether you need one session or a longer discovery.

We already have a requirements document. Can we skip this?

Send the existing document. We will say whether a full workshop is still useful. A structured session often finds missing edge cases and non-functional requirements; sometimes a shorter review is enough.
